go from...to...: 從...到...

 I wasn't in love with her, okay? I was briefly in love with the abstract concept of getting married.

(常常有人說: 你並不是愛上我，只是愛上「愛情」，在這邊 Ted 就說，我只是愛上「結婚」這個抽象概念。)

Look who I ran into.

巧遇: run into/ bump into

 I can't ask her out, because if I ask her out, I'm asking her out.

Ask someone out: 可以只是單純約出來見面，也可以是約會，所以 Ted 怕約她出來會讓她覺得他想要「約會」。

Now, if only I knew her schedule, I could arrange a chance

encounter.

跟蹤狂: stalker

(以前的跟蹤狂通常是真的在跟蹤，但現在會瘋狂追蹤別人的facebook 的人也常常被稱作 stalker，是現代版跟蹤狂)

(這邊翻譯成「貪心」，但應該是「更加愛他」比較貼切)

幾乎不: barely

barely 通常是 幾乎不的意思, Marshal 這裡是說：我幾乎還沒寫

但是翻譯成「我才剛剛開始寫」比較符合中文的說法

 I mean, we barely know each other

像這裡英文應該是「我們幾乎不認識」比較符合

 all in the pursuit of a stuffed, purple giraffe.

為了追求: in pursuit of

(因為在播報新聞，所以Robin 用了 pursuit "追求"這個詞，用來形容小朋友想要得到玩具稍微正式了一點)

奇數、奇怪、很少發生的事：odds

odd numbers=奇數

an odd person=怪人

在飢餓遊戲裡，每次比賽前都會說 "May the odds be ever in your favor" 翻譯成 「願機會永遠眷顧著你」，他不用opportunity 或是 chance 而選用 odds 應該就是想要表示這是極低的可能性。

應該常常看到 etc 吧! 跟中文的「等等...。」一樣

etcetera 是他完整的單字

 (這是法文，但是英文也經常使用這個詞)

損失: loss

獲得: gain

舉辦派對的動詞除了 hold ，更常用throw 

丟出一個party

很遜: lame

"the one" 是Ted 常常會提到的，「命中注定的對象」

 Hey, no sweat

很輕鬆的事情，不會流汗，所以沒問題可以說: no sweat

You're all sweaty!

(這裡剛好可以看到流很多汗的說法)

不是...就是...: either...or 

(國高中重要句型)

不真誠: insincere

(在寫信的時候，結尾常常會寫 "sincerely, Cindy." 就是"誠摯的，Cindy")

通常吸引某人的目光我們會說: catch someone's eye 

所以形容人是 " a catch" 表示他很有魅力，可以吸引人的目光
