How I Met Your Mother S1 ep2

In excruciating detail.

I made a complete fool of myself.
讓自己像笨蛋一樣: made a fool of myself

You went from, "I think I'm in love with you" to "I'm not gonna call her"?
go from...to...: 從...到...

I wasn't in love with her, okay? I was briefly in love with the abstract concept of getting married.

Look who I ran into.
巧遇: run into/ bump into

I can't ask her out, because if I ask her out, I'm asking her out.

Now, if only I knew her schedule, I could arrange a chance
encounter.

That's great, Ted-- you'll be the most casual stalker ever.

Lily had been, well, extra affectionate.

I have a 25-page paper on constitutional law due Monday.
I barely started.

I mean, we barely know each other

all in the pursuit of a stuffed, purple giraffe.
為了追求: in pursuit of

Robin, wow! What are the odds
an odd person=怪人

在飢餓遊戲裡,每次比賽前都會說 "May the odds be ever in your favor" 翻譯成 「願機會永遠眷顧著你」,他不用opportunity 或是 chance 而選用 odds 應該就是想要表示這是極低的可能性。

Not eagerly waiting by the door.

Hey, nice place, etcetera, etcetera.

Man, you're a dork.
白癡: dork

On a silver platter.
Bon appetit.
Bon appetit!

Your loss, her gain.

Hey, hey, I got that roof reserved.

I was trying to think, what's the quickest way to get rid of a girl you just met?
擺脫: get rid of

We threw two parties.

Well, this is lame.
很遜: lame

She's not just one of them.
She's the one.

 Hey, no sweat

You're all sweaty!

I didn't throw this party to set you up with Carlos,

I'd either have to marry you or break your heart
不是...就是...: either...or

Oh Look, I know it sounds insincere when people say that,
Cindy")

 You are a catch.
